Stephanie is certified as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of West Georgia in 2008. After graduating, I spent most of my professional career as a registered nurse working in critical care including adult intensive care, the emergency department, and post-surgical recovery room. I loved working with patients but was discouraged because I felt modern medicine was failing at keeping our community healthy.
In 2018, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and struggled trying to find providers that would listen to my concerns. My lab work was great, but I felt horrible. According to conventional medicine, there was nothing to be done, and I just needed to adjust to life with an autoimmune disease. This caused me to seek out alternative forms of healthcare and opened my world to integrative and functional medicine.
Ultimately, my own health journey lead me to return to school to become a nurse practitioner so that I could help others struggling to find answers for their health. In addition, I have also discovered Direct Primary Care. I love that I am able to spend more time with my patients and really develop a relationship with them. I attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham and received a Master of Science in Nursing. I am certified as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
